Hi,

I've had two ablations already for palpitations, and I have another one scheduled for May 7th.  The first didn't work too well.  The second worked very well for a year.  The EP knows where they are coming from and is pretty confident that she can get them under control.  After two ablations, and four cardiac caths, I don't even get nervous anymore.  I just hate the symptoms and want them fixed.  Good luck to you on number 2!

I understand your concern. I've had 3 ablations. My first time in they thought they got it fixed but it came back. Well, I think they did fix the atrial flutter but not the PSVT. The second time they knew after 7 hours that it still wasn't fixed. The 3rd time I went in, I was sitting in the hospital bed and asked my EP right out, are you sure you want to do this? He just laughed.

I can't take Verapamil but I am able to take Diltiazem which has helped keep my now minor PSVT to a bare minimum and my chest pains under control. I don't like taking it but I feel better so I guess I'm stuck with it.

I have empathy for you, braveheart1978.  I have had 4 ablations.  The first and second times they thought they had found all the spots to zap for AFib  but then I developed AFlutter and that required an ablation was on the right side.  That did work but the AFib continued to haunt me. So my final ablation was the AVJ ablation.  I already had a pacer so that ablation was short and sweet.  I was in and out of the hospital in 7 hours.

I think the only part I did not like in all of the ablations I have had was the TEE.  I am the penultimate gagger!  After that little test was done, I was ready for the rest.

Take care and I hope the best for you.
