3-5 heart palpitations a month?

Im actually asking this question for my husband. He is a healthy 30 year old man. He drinks beer quite a bit but other than that is pretty healthy. About two years ago he was drinking energy drinks quite often but has not drunk any for the last year and a half. Ever since he drank them he began having heart palpitation about 3-5 times a month. He heart seems to beat at a normal rate but pounds so hard in his chest that he sometimes has a hard time breathing. The palpiations last anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes. One time he past out but he didn't feel any heart issues prio to that but when the ambulance arrived his heart rate was only 39 beats per minute. Not sure if the two incidents are related but thought it might be important info. I read that these palpitation can be normal but is this many lasting this long normal?

It doesn't sound like garden variety palpitations to me.  The combo of the faint, the heart rate of 39 bpm, and the spells of some kind of odd heartbeat would personally cause me to drag hubby to a cardiologist for a workup.  He needs a basic EKG, and since these spells come on unpredictably, you should maybe discuss wearing a Holter monitor for a longer period to see if it might catch what's going on.

not sure what's going on with your husband, but there's many of us who have thousands of pvc's daily for quite a while...I've had different arrhythmia's VT runs etc with fainting episodes, since age 9 and was told they were ok until I was age 42 when they became very numerous (50,000 pvc's daily)

fainting can be due relatively minor things such as low bp, low blood sugar or it can be a sign of autonomic nervous system problems, cardiac related - only a dr can tell with proper testing
