A-Fib after myectomy

Is it common to experience rapid and irregular heartbeats (for 5 hrs at a time) after a septal myectomy. If it is, how long before the heart settles into a regular rhythm? Are these events potentially harmful?

I had to look up: Septal myectomy is a cardiac surgery treatment for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).   Which I take to mean open heart surgery.  Done via an opening o the chest, or with robotic means?   Whatever the case, I would think it would take several weeks for the heart to fully heal and go to its new stable-state.  Was the subject in intensive care following the procedure?  This is a strong indicator on how serious the surgery is.  I don't know.

I have undergone mitral valve repair and it involved 5 days in intensive care and six weeks of very restricted physical activity.
