A fib/ syncope

hi

I have posted on here before but for some reason I had to get new username.
Anyways. I have A fib.  I was given sotalol 40 mg bid after an attempt for an  ablation that did not work. I was still having dizzy spells and skipping beats so the doc up me to 80mg bid.    Last night I passed out.  I had not passed out since before the Ep study which is why I had it done in the first place.  Why would I pass out now?  I did not go to Er last night just eventually went to bed.  I have no insurance so I'm not running to the ER when I pass out.  Has this happened to anyone?

I'm not familiar with Sotalol (or your use of the word "bid"), but I would be very concerned about passing out and if you can't go to ER I too recommend talking with your doctor ASAP.  You may want to consider dropping back to 40 mg until your doctor can advise.  This is NOT medical advice, this is just something I'd do.  You have used 40 mg and going back to it will not be a sudden change, as would stopping all together.

Your note also confuses me: did you have an ablation?  You  say "attempt for an ablation".  Another point, you may want to explain "Ep study" that also is not understood by me.  All this said, as I know nothing about Sotalol you may not want to bother to answer my questions.

Be careful, dizziness can cause a fall.

Susan,

You can send a note to MH to ask about why you needed a new username : )

I'm sorry you're dealing with continuing a-fib.  I'm not sure why you would pass out unless maybe your BP or heartrate is too low.  Have you contacted your doctor's office?  Maybe he will readjust the meds.
