Ablation for 83 year old woman

My mom has afib and the heart doc said he wanted to put her on Tikosyn. He said "little old ladies don't do well with that procedure". She been on the Tikosyn for about a month. Well now the afib is more often she has had afib 4 times and he now wants to do the Ablation. Does anyone know of someone that age having it done... good or bad results

Forgot to mention that women have higher bleeding related complication rate than men.

It can be a low complication rate procedure if you pick carefully the center and specialist that does the procedure.  Tertiary referral centers have less than half the complication rate than the average clinic in the US.  So experience, skills and volume are important.

There is a tendency to withhold invasive therapy in elderly people until it has been proven to be safe and effective in those that are younger.  There have been studies involving ablation procedures in senior people and even octogenarians, and it has been proven safe and effective with a low complication rate.
