In spite of the less than perfect outcome, it turned out to be the right decision for me. I would rather have spent more time studying it though. Good luck.
It also took me awhile to muster up the courage to proceed with a ablation(s). Turned out to be a great decision! Good luck!!
The side effects are constant heavy boughts with shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, tingling, etc.
I'm not sure what type of SVT I have. I know it's not a-fib. I know I'm tired of feeling like a zombie from the Topral. We tried Cardizam at first and it did'nt work. My cardiologist said there's not much else I can try without heavy side effects.
If the risks are indeed low on the ablation I'd like to have it done. Just need to muster the courage up I guess.
If your doctor doesn't recommend an ablation, get a second and third opinion. I have PVCs, some PACs and Lone Afib. I'd get an ablation today if I could to get relief from the torment, but my cardiologist says that my structurally normal heart can handle the amount of arrhythmia I'm experiencing now and to hold off for a few years as new ablation techniques are in the pipeline, waiting to be perfected. I'm taking his advice for now, but an ablation is tempting. I'm also on Toprol and Digoxin. The Toprol doesn't suppress the palps as much as I'd like. What kind of side effects are you having? There are other meds that may work better for you. I may try that route first. Talk to your doc about it, but typically they try to control it with medication before doing an ablation. Stay strong in any event.
What kind of SVT? An ablation for a-fib will be a bit different than one for PSVT. My doctors recommended the ablation for me and I rebelled against the idea. Eventually I had it done. Had it done 3 times actually. You should know that it may completely fix your heart or it may not. My heart is better than it was and for that I'm grateful. I can live with my funny heart as it is and I don't take any meds for it.
Has your doctor recommended an ablation? If so, he/she must believe the benefits outweigh the risks of the procedure.
