Abnormal heartbeat

Abnormal heartbeat

Hi, I am a 39 yr old woman and have been suffering pains in my chest (tucked up under my left breast) I have been diagnosed with a weak left ventricle and abnormal heartbeat. I usually get the pain after I have been laughing vigorously and have to sit up straight and stay rigid til it goes. This lasts for upto 20mins and can be quite frightening sometimes. I have look on various medical advice sites and no one seems to come up with anything. Last summer I was admitted to hospital with a suspected heart attack, after checks I was sent home with no medication. My concern is that it could be a degenerative condition that will only be taken seriously when it gets worse.

I would appreciate any advice.

Thankyou

honestly, it sounds like you need to arrange an appointment with a cardiologist immediately. being examined for a suspected heart attack and then going away without any medication or useful information sounds like poor medicine to me

i can't be sure as to the seriousness of your condition, but a cardiologist can. even if it means seeing your GP first, make sure you do, and explain to him all of the circumstances you've listed here

it is IMPERATIVE to talk to your doctor openly and honestly, and be thorough. it's a mistake i've made my entire life, not being entirely honest and not telling him everything

Hi i read your post......try to remember that symtoms (symptoms) for a heart attack for a woman are totally different than that of a mans.....we get nauseated, pain in the upper or lower back, we get clammy not sweaty, we get short of breath (the number one sign), we get pain into our face and a feeling of doom sometimes up to a month before, only sllight pressure in the center of our chest.  I think you were sent home because it wasn't a heart attack and there was no reason for meds.  If it were my body and i am a woman i would make an appt., with an internal medicine doc so that he/she can check the internal structure of your organs.  Remember the heart sits in the exact center of our chest, is the size of your left fist and is very slightly to the right.  That is the entire organ...i think there may be something else going on with you that may not have anything to do with your heart from what you've described on your post.  I wouldn't be too worried about this being progressive believe it or not it will probably be something simple and you'll be telling yourself you can't believe it...let us know, keep us posted.
