Anxiety / eating greasy foods / heart rhythm

Here lately it has seemed worse, but whenever I eat and usually only lunch, my heart rises a bit. My normal range is 75-90 or 95. After I eat it tends to go into the 100s. Today, I just ate a pizza and within an hour, I could tell I had gas and acid. My heart racing and skipping beats. It may go 2 or 3 minutes without skipping but then every so often it is skipping 2-3 in a row making me feel short of breath. In turn, this gets my anxiety up and gets my heart racing more. Right now it is at 110. I was diagnosed with heart arrhythmia's along the same time I was diagnosed with panic disorder, about 20 years ago.

I get the same reaction to eating a lot / eating sugary or fatty foods, and it is my understanding that generally, this is a normal reaction in healthy people.

Thank you all for your replies. It finally went away after about 2 hours. I learned that if I got up and walked it helped and that sitting down made it worse. I am a fat guy and I feel when I am sitting down, I am squishing all that fat upwards.

When you push while on the toilet, your doing something called a Valsalva.  This causes an abrupt, momentary jump in internal pressure and can create a brief arrhythmia. A sitting or squatting  position is an ideal position to create the desired result when performing a Valsalva.  I used this technique for years to convert episodes of SVT back to normal rhythm.

Eating and digesting food triggers the release of hormones that can increase your pulse rate.  It's dependent of course on the size of your meal.  Larger meals may cause a larger release of such hormones and significantly increasing your heart rate long after a meal is over. Additionally,  large meals may contain high amounts of fats, which can increase heart rate by preventing the linings of your arteries from functioning properly. Big meals also cause a large influx of sugars that boost insulin levels, thus increasing your pulse by preventing the relaxation of your heart's arteries that typically occurs after a meal.  Pizza=mega carbohydrates=huge spike in blood glucose (blood sugar) levels=significant rise in pulse rate.  I'm not a physician, but I'd say your body is working as it should.....
