Anxiety??

I have been dealing with an arrythmia problems for the past 15 months. I have had it with them... They r driving me crazy. I have good days and bad days. Sometimes I just have them occassionally and this doesnt bother me as much. But sometimea I literally think it will kill me. The last two nights I have woke up in a panic, heart racing and heart rate felt like it was all over the place. I was shaking and chattering like I was cold but I was burning up. This didnt last very long but it was very scary while it lasted. Do you think this was just a panic attack??

All my test have checked out fine that I previously had. Was told it was nothing to worry about. I just cant understand how I have these daily for over a year and its nothing?? I wanna think its anxiety, but anxiety for over a year?? They are alot worse when Im at work. I have them when I get nervous or excited. I also find myself feeling very anxious and feeling like I need to keep yawning yo get a full breath. I also have shaking/chattering episodes alot, even if Im not cold!! I need help or maybe just reassurance!!

I havent had any blood work in over a year! I have seen a cardiologist and wore a monitor. It picked up pvcs and a few pacs. Cardiologist basically told me I was fine and to deal with it or take meds for it.  The ones I have been taking lately seem somewhat worse though.

No Im not sure how fast my heart beats during some of these episodes. It usually feels really fast but I could probably still count it.

Have you had your potassium level checked lately? I tend to be on the low side, and so when my heart starts to feel "funny" I take another half tablet of potassium (I regularly take 10 meq per day because I am on hydrochlorothiazide, a potassium depleter) and within the hour everything is back to normal. Also, take CoQ10 - at least 200 mg daily. Expensive, but good for you. Can't hurt you, doesn't interact with anything, and helps with electron chain activity including of course in the heart.

Anxiety can certainly last for more than a year as many on this site will probably tell you, so can panic attacks. Both of those will make premature beats much worse and you could end up in a cycle. Get help for your anxiety issues and you may find that helps you a lot. Also make an appointment for your GP and he can determine if seeing a cardiologist will help you. Take care

Do you know how fast your heart is beating during one of the episodes?  You could have an svt or could simply have sinus tachycardia.  I would first go to your GP and ask for a blood work up to especially check your thyriod.  An over active thyroid can cause sleep disturbances, a rapid pulse and hot spells.  If your thyroid is fine and you continue to have racing heart episodes you may want to then go to see a cardiologist to get checked out.  Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
