Anyone trying Coenzyme Q10 -heart tonic and energy booster?

Anyone trying Coenzyme Q10 -heart tonic and energy booster?

I am getting so much from this forum and am impressed by the depth of actual experienced knowledge as well as the theoretical - so thanks to you all.
My question is are any of you trying coenzyme Q10 for its benefits to both heart and energy?
There are lots of research papers on the benefits and lots of you are feeling a lack of energy when I read your posts.
Every cell in your body contain mitochondria and Coenzyme Q10 is needed to convert glucose and energy in your mitochondria into energy you can use. Also CoQ10 is involved in the complex process of getting it out of your mitochondria and into the rest of your body.I am certainly noticing a big difference and other people I know are too so any one here using it as a supplement?
As always please do not take anything without reference to your doctor which of course I did first.

I tried CoQ10 for a few months and didn't feel any different. Still had my arrhythmias and generally felt the same as always. I'd have to say I was disappointed. I understand the body needs it but not sure how much is truly needed.

Did you ever try Q10 and L-carnite together? Would suggest to have a blood test before you try to see if you are lacking any of this, otherwise it's pointless. I used to take megadoses of vitamins and minerals and it didn't change anything, still had arrhythmias. I feel that regular exercise, a very good balanced diet and meditation have helped me to a certain degree, only have my turns a couple of times a day now (for short periods) whereas before I had it 3 or 4 days in a row non stop, especially annoying at night.

Thanks for your comments. Not looking good so far perhaps its just me! I reaaly notice the diference with energy levels.
Still the research papers show a whole range of benefits , blood pressure, cholesterol etc. so I will continue.

I am totally with you on diet, meditation and exercise. Four years ago I was a physical wreck as i was too scared to exercise. Got dragged out very reluctantly by my daighter to walk around a local lake - so embarrassing checking pulse, not going too far away from car etc. She kept on dragging me out and slowly i got more confident, fitter and started enjoying it.
four years later i am a dedicated mountain walker/scrambler, every weekend in all weathers to the point that now I am considered the physically fittest person at work and they have no idea of my problems. They are asking me to organise a company trip up Snowdon but choose the easiest route for them. What a laugh!
I really think lots of our community could get a lot from getting out in the freash air but fear will hold them back.
what do you tnink?

i walk in the country side with my dogs every day and i love it --the fresh air --gettin chased by the cows --i think when there is enough to relax the mind exercise becomes easy when a person has heart issues that is------but exercise is the key to a healthy heart ,digestive system and overall wellbeing
good for u greendave-----------------i have not tried the cq10 maybe i might

Cows and dogs - hate it when you get a herd of bullocks and a big field and they surround you - what do you do.
I like your comment including digestive system and overall well being as I am sort of sure that there is a big link with upset gurgly stomach and PVC's. VAGUS NERVE. When I was in hospital after a suspected heart attack they told me that the whole thing could have been caused by excess alcohol and smoking irritating my stomach and causing the same symptoms as a heart attack.
There's so many possibilities - still my tooth went yesterday so hoping for improvements.
CO Q10 is worth a read on google as there are so many proper medical studies to back it up but as always check for conflicts with medication as one effect is to lower blood pressure. Checked out your tracker today could you put some notes on

It's funny that you posted this.  I was just going to ask the same question.  I have been reading a lot about COQ10!  Do you take any other medications?  I am on Lipitor and Toprol XL (for the PVCs/PACs and ocassional non-sustained AFIB).  My palps have increased a lot over the last few months - but still my cardio is not concerned.  I am going to give this a try starting Monday.  I worry, a little, though - because I know for a lot of people Omega fish oils help with pvc/pacs - but it actually made mine worse.

I hate taking medication and at my last visit to the doctor he offered beta blockers again but I declined as they slow me down so much and I just don't feel right -but my doctor was OK with that and I am not advising anyone else  to do the same.
Also he was happy for me to try Co Q10 as it is well researched and does not appear to have side effects.
You will have read the posts and at the moment I seem to be the only one with a favourable response but I was looking for something that would act as an energy booster with the added benefits of lowering blood pressure and improving cholestrol levels.
I certainly have noticed more vitality and two friends with similar problems , having assked their doctors first also tried it and also have noticed an improvement in well being and energy. So my personal experience is only three people.
As far as PVC''s are concerned I still have to watch my known triggers and do not think that just because I am taking this supplement i can do what I want because I can't - so it is not a cure.
The way I look at it is my PVC's have not got worse and I feel a lot more energy so my quality of life is better.
That was the main reason for my post - more energy without an increase in PVC's.
If it does reduce them then that is an added bonus.
Good luck and let us all know how you get on as lomg as you have checked this out with your doctor first.

Just wanted to let you know that somehow you are not able to receive notes or PM's. Tried to respond to your nice PM but it won't go through. Thinking of you though.

Apologies for bringing this back again but I forgot to mention that cholesterol lowering STATIN drugs, which some of you might be on, also block your production of CoQ10. Our hearts need lots of CoQ10 (twice as much as other parts of your body) so you especially might benefit
just catching up on the posts!!
