Arrhythmia ablation & CM

I had an ablation last Monday for VT's where they treated 3 different areas (all on the septum).  My EP explained that they arose from my CM, where the enlargement of the heart 'pulled' on the septum.  My question is:  If the CM enlargement is still there (I understand it always will be), won't I continue to develop new areas of arrythmias?  Does CM ever resolve itself?  I know the meds are designed to reduce the workload of the heart - and increase my EF (it's 30) but is CM ever reversible?

Thanks,
Angel

what caused your cm, and how long have you had it, and what meds are you taking.  digoxin is a good med for arrythmia, my daughter has been taking it since may (she has dilated cardiomyopathy and is 22)   it brought her amount of pac's down where all of the other drugs didn't (coreg, inspra and vasotec)    it also helped bring up her ef from 35% to 42% because it brought down the number of arrythmias      i have heard of cases where cm is resolved, but that i guess happens if the the underlying problem that caused it is resolved, but it depends on what your situation is.  in my daughter's case, she was diagnosed with idiopathic dilated cm, and they did not know then what the underlying cause was, now the drs at the univ of mich think it may be from very frequent pac's, but aren't sure at this point    hope everything goes well for you,    dawn

I also have idiopathic cardiomyopathy and the cardiologists said it could viral, but we will never know for sure.  I'm not sure how long it has been developing but my first heart event (ER and cardioversion) was March of this year. (8 months).  My EP stated that the CM happened first, then my arrythmias (ventricular tachycardia)..  I was on Amiodarone until the ablation, now I'm off.  I didn't do well on the drug, plus she doesn't want me on it long term (too toxic).  My other meds for CM are Coreg CR, Lisinopril, and Aldactone.  I have struggled a great deal with meds and am still on very low dosages.  I have had several echos since March and my EF is still 30.  From what I understand, the virus or whatever caused it is no longer there.  Thanks so much and hope your daughter does well...I know that must be hard for you as a mom.
