I have been on beta blockers for about 3 years due to heart palps and high heart rate. My resting rate was about 110 before the ToprolToprol-xl. I recently came off the beta blocker b/c I'm trying to get pregnant. I also stopped my birth controlControl Control rx at the same time. I've noticed that my heart rate is now as good or better than it was while taking the beta blocker to slow it down. On the beta blocker my lowest pulseNeck pulse Pulse Pulse - bounding Pulse - weak or absent Radial pulse Takayasu arteritis Taking your carotid pulse was in the 80's. I've been off of all meds for about 6 months and my heart rate is staying in the 80's still. However my BP has dropped considerably. I've always had a normalNormal saline flush BP around 120/80, but now it is around 90/55 most of the time. I was evaluated by my doctor b/c I felt overly tired and groggy but he didn't find any cause for the BP drop. Any ideas what could be causing this? Can birth controlControl Control rx cause the raised heart rate and BP? I was on the pill for about 12 years and the whole time I had a high heart rate. I can't think of anything else that's changed to cause my pulseNeck pulse Pulse Pulse - bounding Pulse - weak or absent Radial pulse Takayasu arteritis Taking your carotid pulse to suddenly drop so much.
Interesting question melo1224. I haven't heard a correlation between the BC pill and HR, but since so many of us experience PVCs, etc., with hormonal fluctuations, it wouldn't surprise me.
Your current HR is good news after being tachy for so long : )
When my BP would be 90/55 (or similar), I didn't feel tired, etc. My doctor always said it was fine as long as I felt OK.
