Baby with Irregular Heart Beat

Baby with Irregular Heart Beat

First off I  called the doctor.  But....I am such a worry wort.  My 13 month old is sick, he has a virus with a fever and a slight rash.  They did his blood work and said its a virus but didn't tell me what.  I think its Rosela because he doesn't have any other symptoms.  Anyways last night I had him in my bed watching him bewteen doeses of fever reducers and he seemed clammy.  So I felt his pulse and it felt so weird.  So I got my stethescope and his pulse was freaky:

luba dub, luba dub, luba dub, dub, dub dub pause, luba dub, luba dub, luba dub,  dub, dub pause.  You get the idea??

I called the doctor and I got the PA on call.  I reminded them that he had just been seen by the doctor and that he had a virus with a fever and I explained the irregular heart rhythm.  They said its normal and next time I bring him in for a well/sick visit to remind them of it.  Unless he is struggling to breath or what not.

I am just so worried, I myself have some heart issues (PVC,PAC & Bradycardia) so I know a little bit about heart stuff.

So has anyone had their toddler have a weird heart rhythm and it be normal??

Thanks,
paranoid mommy

It is normal to be protective of a baby, you love will help assure the health of your child, throughout life.   There's no love like that of a mom... I know being a son myself.

You may want to put a post on the pediatrics community
http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/153
we here are more experienced with adult heart rhythm irregularities...

Given the doctor's office isn't concerned, I suggest posting on the above community and then keep a close watch over you baby but try to remain positive and calm.

Best to the both of you

There is not way to provide specific reactions to your question as you haven't provided much information.

In all things dealing with our health, it is best to discuss with a doctor who can check you vitals, including heart beat.

From what you say, I understand you no long have symptoms, that is a good sign and makes it unlikely that anything would be found even in an examination.

If the symptoms are on-going perhaps you'd like to explain a bit further. It would be better if you started a new post with your subject, rather that to attach to an old post from last year.
