Bad Palpitations

Bad Palpitations.  I have been having bad palpitations in the last few days that go constantly for hours. I had Ablation Sugery 6 to 7 years ago and he said it could come back since it was so deep in the heart. Went to Er a couple of days ago and they put me on Metropolol 25 Mg a day and it hasn't helped yet. I am so sick because iv'e never had them so bad and so close. I have a Cardioligist Appointment Feb 4th. Any info would be appreciated.

Call the ER you went to and request a copy of your test results to take to the cardiologist on the 4th.

I had my EP request records from the ER when I went in the first time in July 2009; I didn't find out until over a year later that the ER did not forward those records to him and in the records it showed I had an enlarged heart and multi focal pvc's - which they said was "ok" since I was seeing my dr 3 weeks later, but that information was important and my EP missed out on having that valuable info in system.

My new cardiologist/ep asked that I bring in all records to my first appt with me =)

Feb 4th is just around the corner.  You were seen in the ER when you were having the palpations and they sent you home..so I would assume they saw nothing dangerous.  It takes beta blockers a couple of weeks to really get into your system, so it can take a little bit for them to start helping.  If it hasn't started kicking in by the time you see your cardiologist ask if you could try something else.  Neither the metropolol or atenolol worked well for me. Just try not to think about it 24/7.  I'm sure you know stress makes them way worse.  Hang in there.
