Beta Blockers, pvc's, nsvt, normal-low blood pressure, 30 years old

Dear Doctor,

I am a 30 year old female who has been having palps.  Saw a cardiologist and he did a 24-hour monitor.  I have the palps worse the week before my period and I was drinking a lot of caffine.  The 24 hour monitor was done the week before my period.  It showed me to have about 40 pvc's an hour, 38 total couplets, and one 7 beat run of nsvt.  He ordered an echocardiogram, which showed everything to be perfectly normal.  He has gone ahead and referred me to an electrophysiologist, which I see later this week, but in the meantime wants me to take beta blockers, metoprolol.
My question is:  I am very active, aerobics, weights, run...and my blood pressure is always a normal low 110/70.  I feel like the cardiologist, who has only seen me 3 times in my life, has jumped the gun on giving me these beta blockers and wants me out of his hair.  Should I wait to get a second opinion from the electrophysiologist Friday?  The cardiologist, who is prob not much older than I am, keeps mentioning ablation to cure me, since I am only 30.  He seems a little to gung ho to medicate and burn parts in my heart for me!  I am now trying to experiment with cutting out caffine and haven't felt palps as often.  Is it just me or does it seem that he is pushing the beta blocker too quickly?

Thanks!

My palps do not bother me.  I have lived with them for a few years, so I am used to them.

Do the beta blockers help anything?  The cardiologist was going so fast I couldn't understand if he was saying I needed them to keep from having nsvt or if he was giving them to me because he thought the pvc's are pestering me.

Also, what about my blood pressure already being a normal/low and taking a beta blocker?  It's metoprolol.....25 mg twice a day.

I can't answer your question but I will bump it to the top so that someone can answer it.
I also have low blood pressure, lower than yours and cannot tolerate any beta-blockers. Average bp for me is 92/63 but can drop to 81/55 after an svt attack. I had an ablation almost 5 weeks ago and am now on my 2nd day in a row with no palpitaions :)

Congrats on the successful ablation!
Thanks!
