Beta blockers and exercise

I suffer from ventricular bigeminy but also a rather high heartrate, partly perhaps due to anxiety. On occasion my heart was really going too fast at times (170 BPM for short period just sitting), I've been to doctor who prescribed Propranalol, the lowest does 10mg, 3 times a day. I just started them today and I have noticed an effect, so far a good one. I did go for a walk and walked quickly up a hill that normally gets my heart rate to 130, but now it didnt go over 100.

My question though is what heart rate should I aim for to get helpful aerobic exercise now? It seems as though its going to be quite difficult to get my heart going. On my bike I would try to aim for a heart rate of 120 or 130, not sure if thats wise or even possible now?

The lower HR when exercising will likely ease off as you adjust to the BB.  I was still a runner (well fast jogger) when taking 50 mg SR Toprol, and I noticed a lower HR at rest and when exercising.  I found over time that I had to regulate my exercise level to prevent going too high on the HR.  I had no trouble getting to 150 when running and as I was in my mid 50s that was my upper limit.

Bottom line, I'd say do what you feel is best for the condition you are in and not worry that you HR is too low, unless you get dizzy or have an unusual shortness of breath.  Those symptoms suggest you need more oxygen, maybe just a higher HR.
