CAUSE FOR INCREASE IN PVCS??

by sb786, Oct 16, 2007 11:56AM
Hi just need some reassurance and advice.

I have been suffering with pvcs and svt for almost a year now. I take a low dose beta blocker bisoprolol) I tend to get between 10-50 pvcs on a day but for the past week my heart rate has been slightly higher than usual (usually my resting H.R is 60 bpm but at the moment it is 75-85bpm) and i have been getting many more pvcs (at least 200 a day). They are worse at night when i am drifting off to sleep. Usually i don't get many when i lay down to sleep.
The only thing that has changed is i think i maybe coming down with some bug as i have had a sore throat and occassional headache for a week now.
Can anyone shed any light as to why i'm getting so many pvcs now?
Thanks!

I think this increase is probably due, either directly or indirectly, to the bug you are coming down with.
It's well known that some people's PVCs are induced at high heart rates and others at low heart rates. Your body is figthing infection and this may have increased your PVCs indirectly by increasing your heart rate.
Alternatively the PVCs may be unrelated to the increased hr but still the result of your body fighting infection.
Mine increased 10 fold up into the hundreds for a week this summer when I had a cold then went back to normal shortly afterwards. I think alot of people on the forum have mentioned that their PVCs are worse when they are ill.

Hope they calm down soon.
