CPK

this all began with flu like symptoms.  (headache, body aches, chills) I went to my family doctor.  there was blood work.   All came back normal including colesterol.  I then started swelling in different joints and it seemed crazy that it would move around so.  I went back to Dr.  for more test (lyme disease, rocky mountain, rheumitoid and CPK.  all was normal but the CPK.  Dr said that 10 was high side of normal and mine was 28!! Also asked about an accident that I had 9 months ago where I broke 2 ribs. Indicated that I should lower colesterol. BUT IT'S NORMAL.  Dr says that I am at risk of heart attackand not be under any stress. I am female, 57 and  I am not over weight.  I gave up smoking. What else am I to do?  Simply wait of the "angels" to take me?  I don't understand this CPK thing.   Should I find a cardiologists?

If you have systemic symptoms of chills, sweats and joint swelling, I would start with a rheumatologist. In our lab a CPK of 28 is normal.  If it is a CK-MB, 28 it is high, but I assume that isn't what you were talking about.

I think a second opinion sounds like a good idea because I am not sure why there is concern based on what you have told me.  If you get a second opinion, take your lab results with you.

I hope this helps.
