Can PVCs be related to mitral regurgitation?

Can PVCs be related to mitral regurgitation?

I have had PVCs since about 18 - I'm 30 now and have just received the results of an echo that show mild mitral and tricuspid regurgitation.  I've done the whole workup (about 9 years ago) of stress test, echo, holter, etc. and was told that everything looked okay and that what I suffered from were benign PVCs.  I don't like them, they scare me to death, but I've learned to live with them.  After finding out that I had valve regurgitation on my current echo, now I'm wondering if my PVCs could be related to that.  Does anyone know if there is any relation of the two?  Could the regurgitation cause any sort of irregular rhythm that might cause sudden death?

I'm sorry the question sounds so dramatic, but just when I was resigning myself to deal with the PVCs, I've just given myself another reason to worry.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Mild regurgitation is fairly common and is, to my knowledge, usually not considered serious enough to "treat it", try to cure it.

However, regurgitation (sometimes call leakage) can in the case of the mitral valve cause enlargement of the left atrium.  That, as is my case, can caue Atrial Fibrillation.  I am not suggesting you have AFib, or will, but I expect you doctor will prescribe a echo cardiogram every few years, 3-5, to keep an eye on the regurgitation and the size of you chambers.

I do not thing valve regurgitation causes PVC problems... others may have a better information - I am guessing as an extension of my experience with AFib and a leaky mitral valve.  I do not have PVCs.  The leaky valve was repaired with surgery a couple of years ago.  Heart surgery is something that is put off until absolutely necessary, and mild valve regurgitation is not such a necessity.

From what you've told me, I do not see anything that would make me think you will have a sudden heart failure anytime soon... maybe in 50 years.
