Can anyone give advice please

I am 41 now. I have been in and out of hospital in the last 8 years or so with tachycardia as my heart rate at time goes over 200 and takes ages for them to get it down for me.

Anyway the last time i was in which was last August not for that problem but it was for a pulmonary embolism which they treated for me and then i was released.

When I was in my blood pressure was always very high and even when they changed the blood pressure units sometimes they would never register it.

The one time I remember looking it said 220 the high one and the low one was 130

It varied while i was in from 110 to 170 higher then a little lower but always high. The Sister of the ward I was in said that while i was in it would be a good idea to get that sorted as well but was not up to her as i was under other doctors.

Anyway nothing ever came of that and i was released from hospital although they did say to tell my doctor and they would send notes to him that i need my blood pressure sorted.

What made me write here today is I think it must be my blood pressure to blame but not sure. Been having palpitations for the last few days on and off, not to bad but just not comfy at times. About 5 or more hours ago i started having heavy feeling in the front of my head and my temples and bridge of nose feels like pressure pushing down on it.

I have one of those home blood pressure things which is supposed to be a very good one which doctors use, I don't use at all since i purchased it because it would worry me more seeing what it was.

Anyway I did tonight get it out and took my blood pressure and the reading is top number 170 bottom was 108 heart rate 135

I tried a few time sit would not read but like i said it must be the same if it is high it does not read sometime seven on the hospital ones.

Anyway do i need to see someone as i do hate going the doctors but it is worrying me and i just go day to day week in week out with other symptoms like feeling dizzy, blurred vision.

I have also started feeling very sick, it started yesterday which i put down to a stomach bug but today it is still here and seems a bit worse as very nausea feeling like i want to be sick but have not been sick, and the fluttering palpations as I write this just makes me feel un-comfy.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thank you

Robert

Your blood pressure is rather high and should be looked into ASAP. In the meantime, try to take it easy and avoid over-exerting yourself. Also, avoid all stimulants (caffeine, nicotine, OTC cold medicine, etc.) and stay away from alcohol, as it can also raise your bp. However, if you drink regularly, do not stop abruptly, as this can lead to severely high bp. I have some quick and simple things that you can do when your blood pressure is too high, but I feel uneasy about sharing them with you because I do not know your medical history and because I am not a doctor. Hang in there, and don't hesitate to visit the ER if it gets too high.

Just wondering if you're ok and went to the ER or doctor yet.  Please do so ASAP!

Hope you've gotten the BP checked out at the ER, or at least made an appointment with your cardiologist.

As for the BP monitor not registering, mine will not work when I'm having PVCs.  I think the extra beats throw the monitor out of whack.

Let us know what you find out.

Did you go tot he ER or make a Dr's apt?  I have HBP too and those are high numbers.  All of the symptoms you are describing can be broguht on by HBP -- dixxy, sick to your stomach, blurred vision.  You wont believe how much better you feel once you get on some medication to bring it down.  Please go.

Yes- go to the ER.  Not to scare you or anything, but you may be understating/over-coping a bit, here.  The fact that you have high BP and tach could be a bad combination to through clots, especially with your history of PE.  Please let us know how you fair.  :)

Sounds like you have high blood pressure, please go back to the doctor as soon as possible.  You sound like me, I have tachycardia too and stopped taking my blood pressure and heart rate on the home device because it causes more stress.  My blood pressure is way lower than yours, but the doctor says that I have high blood pressure even though I have many normal readings, like 127-136 high number and 75-90 low number.  So, if they say I have high blood pressure, you surely do. Maybee someone else can say how doctors determine high blood pressure, as I have had normal blood pressure more often, normal meaning 120/80.  My heart rate is always high too, 200 is really high and you need to check it out.  I am in the same boat so can't advise wisely, as I am on medication to lower my heart rate which it does not, and suppossed to lower my blood pressure which is still sometimes high so I know your concern.  But, you do need to see a doctor about both your heart rate and blood pressure right away.
Let us know how you are.
