Can someone please tell me if ventricular tachycardia on a treadmill stress test is dangerous if it is non-sustained? It was 150 beats per minute. I went into the v-tach more than once during the test, according to my EP. He started me on 50 mg. Metoprolol (beta blocker) and I will have another treadmill test in a month.
Last year I went into non-sustained v-tach on a treadmill and was told it was monomorphic with a few beats that were polymorphic in nature. Another treadmill showed frequent ventricular ectopy. Within the last year I have had a heart cath., 3 event recorders, echo, heart MRI, 3 treadmill tests. I have only about 10% blockage in coronary arteries, MRI was ok and echo ok. One of the things the EP was looking for with MRI was ARVD.
After my v-tach last year I saw two different Eps. One of them said he thought I could have had this all my life (I have had several bouts of light-headedness during my life, and I had grand mal seizures in my early 20s (doctor could not determine cause). He said he could do an EP study and there was about 65% chance of finding it and ablating it.
The EP I currently use told me last year he did not think I have had them all my life, and thought there was a 0% chance of finding something with EP study.
I am concerned if this could be hereditary because I have 3 grand-children who run cross-country.
My grandmother had seizures and died at a young age, but at that time they thought it was epilepsy.
