Can viruses cause arrythmias and is it reversible?

3 years ago I developed sinus tachy and the sensation of skipped beats.  I saw a cardiologist who said at the time that he considered it to be anxiety, however it was constant and so I was put on beta blockers.  I am now pregnant and during a cold the skipped beats were very noticeable.  I was referred to a new cardiologist who gave me a monitor to wear for a few days.  It has now been suggested that anxiety was not the cause.

When looking at my history, it all began after the birth of my first child 3 yrs back.  After I had him I had my 8 week check up and I was perfectly fine, blood pressure and bloods were normal.  Then by 12-15 weeks after the birth I had developed this arrythmia and yes very severe health anxiety.  They said it was post natal depression at the time but it never resolved.  But what did happen was the following over the period of weeks:-

At 12 weeks after the birth I developed a bad tooth infection in my wisdom tooth - was put on antibiotics
Straight after that I had a cold and mild chest infection.
At 14 weeks after the birth I had a UTI and a vaginal infection - was given antibiotics
Then another really bad cold where breathing was very difficult and that turned into a sinus infection - antibiotics again
At 15 weeks after birth I had a terrible cough, this lasted till about 20 weeks after the birth.  I was still having trouble breathing.
That cleared up and I got severe dizzy spells, my temperature was erratic sometimes dropping extremely low.
I then started getting thrush like symptoms in my mouth and was getting really bad.  I then got a terrible rash on my thighs which was burning and painful.  More bloods done including cultures and nothing showed up.  I was exhausted all of the time and started noticing that I was getting paler and paler, I lost over 2 stone, struggled to swallow, had no appetite anyway and it went on and on.  I then started developing Raynaud's on my hands and arms.  I was constantly anxious and was admitted to hospital where my blood pressure was very very high but my lips were blue and I had tachy.  Again they took lots of bloods and said my bloods were fine and that I needed psychiatric help!

Three years on and my new cardiologist thinks my arrythmia is caused by a viral infection that I had back then, he concluded that I have PAC's with the tachy and thinks that it is something to do with cell damage after I had the virus or possibly one of the infections that i was being treated for but more likely the virus that led to the sinus infection at 15wks.

Thing is, I would like to know if anyone has any experience with post viral syndromes and post viral arrythmias?  Are they reversible?  Do they eventually resolve themselves?

I used to be really active but I have been afraid to even exercise all of this time but I want to get fit again.

I am approaching the 3rd trimester and have been ok'd for natural birth but am terrified of giving birth.  Has anyone had kids with tachy etc???

That's one of the theories I think happened with me.  I had a really bad stomach virus, then my 8 month long bout with constant PVCs started.  But who knows, I had so much going on at the time, much like you.  it could have been a few different things.  I have kids in day care and we were constantly sick.  I could have picked up just about anything.

However, the odd part with me, is that now when I get sick everything stops.  I have no arrhythymia.  I've heard other report the same thing, that when they get sick the arrhythymia goes aways, which leads to me think that perhaps there is some sort of autoimmune issue.

Has anyone ever mentioned POTS (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) to you? That is what they initially thought I had after a viral illness I was suffering from. If you read up on it...it can come from a viral illness or be pregnancy related. Sounds a lot like your symptoms. Hope this helps.
