I am curious. I have seen the term SVTParoxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (psvt) and PSVT used a lot, and of course I've looked it up, but I'm wondering from the perspective of those of you who suffer these episodes...what is the difference?
Many of you know...I have PVC's regularly but have had about 8 or so episodes of "something else." It has never been caught, but based on my description, my Dr. thinks it is short spurts of SVTParoxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (psvt). What I have had often starts when I bend over and it seems to trip my heart into a "quiver" that lasts about 10-15 seconds at most (probably really 5-6 seconds but it seems a lifetime) and just stops. It makes me feel faint.
I don't think I've even had SVTParoxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (psvt), but what you describe sounds like NSVT. I'm wondering if we would be able to tell the difference between the two. You know how PVCs and PACs can feel the same? Think it's the same for SVTParoxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (psvt) and NSVT? When I have an episdoe of NSVT, it also feels like it's for a longer time period, but I'll bet it's also under 10 seconds. Feel strange!!
According to the Cleveland Clinic, PSVT (Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia) is a rapid but regular rhythm that comes from the atria. PSVT begins and ends suddenly.
Hope that helps
I hate to comment at all because I'm not a doctor. Have you seen a cardiologist or EP? Have you had a haltor monitor or event monitor? If not, I would encourage you to request one to have these PVCs and possible NSVT or SVTs or whatever these strange heart beats are looked at. I don't think one should take irregular heartbeats coupled with feeling faint lightly. I don't mean to alarm you, just suggest you discuss all this with an EP.
