Cardio Seal Implant

I had a cardio seal implant for my PFO on 06-2005.  I have not heard from my cardiologist since.  I called his office to find out if it ever needs to be rechecked and I got no response.  Do these implants need rechecking?  Or once its done and there has been no problems then never mind?

Follow up appointments after CardioSeal Implant procedure are recommended at these intervals:

1 month - (Timing window 2-6 weeks post implant)
6 months - (Timing window 4-8 months post implant)
12 months - (Timing window 8-16 months post implant)
24 months - (Timing window 18-30 months post implant)

Beyond 24 months I believe that an annual checkup with the cardiologist is advised. Are you currently experiencing problems or was this just a general inquiry?

I think most of my problems are from my recently newly acquired autoimmune disease but It just dawned on me that I never was checked up after my operation.  I think i had a 1 month recheck and that was it.  I havent been back to the cardiologist since late 2005.

I had a PFO closure too (honestly I don't know what they used to close it - it was via open heart surgery).  They never rechecked me either.  I think they are supposed to make sure that the device has become integrated into your heart tissue - that the heart cells have grown around it and enveloped it.  Then you are at less of a risk of endocarditis, I believe.  ???  I've had things looked at since for other reasons and everything looks fine, but I, too, never was called back for any echos or MRIs or any second looks at how things were healing.

Guess they feel its not that important,...huh.  I have an appointment with my Neuro on monday so I will ask her.
