Cause of an SVT

I am a 44 year old healthy female.  In Sept. I had a lithotripsy procedure (blasting of kidney stones).  Apparently while I was under sedation, my heart rate went up and down, as low as 30 bpm to 140 bpm.  A nurse told me that she asked the urologist "What organ he was near when this was happening."  After I came out of sedation, I was asked how my chest felt.  I had some pressure so they admitted me overnight for testing.  Xray, doppler, came back normal; however i was told that there were EKG changes.  After I was released I was put on a 30-day monitor.  My heart rate soared daily to over 200 bpm on and off throughout the day.  I was told I had two options, medication for the remainder of my life or a cardiac ablation.  I opted for the ablation due to the side-effects and long term effects of the medication.  My question is, could the lithotripsy have caused this SVT,  the sedation, or could this have been a pre-existing condition that was brought on by this procedure?  Thank you.

I found some articles on "Supraventricular Tachycardia Associated with Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy".  Apparently when in testing back in the early 80s this was noted.  Steps were recommended to alter the timing of the shock waves to prevent.  Based on what I read, I'm left wondering why the doctor continued the procedure.  The doctor is supposed to know about this possible side effect and should have stopped.

If you'd like to read the medical paper, try searching on the terms "Supraventricular Tachycardia Associated with Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy
WALTS, LEONARD F. M.D.; ATLEE, JOHN L. III M.D."

Or if you can't find it let me know and I will see if I can email it to you.
