Checking heart rate w/ afib

My mom has controlled afib on mediciations.  She lives in an assisted living facility and they check her heart rate daily by feeling her pulse in her wrist or using a professional blood pressure machine.  I just wondering how accurate these methods are for taking heart rate?

The accuracy is almost totally dependent on the person doing.  For example, I have a hard time feeling my own pulse at the wrist.  I use a stethoscope and a digital watch..I'd estimate my accuracy to be better than 90%, GOOD ENOUGH.  

A person using the wrist who can be as accurate if they can feel the pulse, and the BP device is like me using a stethoscope, or better it is electronically counted and is displayed on a readout... then better than 95% accurate I'll guess.

When checking for AFib, it is detecting the irregularity, not the HR.  I can by "ear" detect the irregularity caused by my permanent AFib.
