Chest Pain at 21 years old

Hi,
I am 21 years old. I have had chest pains since I was young. I went to the doctor for an EKG about 7 years ago, and they didn't find anything. It is mostly random, and feels like a stabbing pain (very sharp) in my chest. It is very close to the middle of my chest, but to the left just a bit. Sometimes I can feel it coming on, and take a deep breath which helps it pass quickly. I have had a couple occasions that it is brought on by stress, but mostly it just happens randomly. I recently got off Orth-Try-Cyclin Lo, but I had the pains way before getting on that. I am on no other medicine. I am healthy, and the only issues I've had recently was a kidney stone earlier this year. It passed with no complications. Any ideas?

When was the last time you had a physical?    If it's been a while why not make an appointment and bring it up during the physical?

Have your questions ready and more specifically tell the doctor how these pains make you feel.  If it's causing you undue anxiety most doctors will go the extra mile to reassure you and run some tests.  

That said, *usually*, short stabbing pains aren't associated with the heart.  But you never know and should get this checked out.  While they might not find anything wrong, it will cure your anxiety or concerns over it.
