Chest Pains

I've been experiencing terrible chest pains for the past year or so.
They come and go but just recently. the pains have became more intense it is as if someone is stabbing in the left chest area. With this follows a gasp (like shortness of breath due to the pain) and my arms feel like they are almost asleep, my elbows also start to ache, all this especially on my left side.
The doctor i went to at an after hours clinic did an ekg and chest xray.
he said it was nearly impossible for me to be having heart attacks, due to im 17 years old, not overweight, i dont smoke and im constantly active. So he pretty much disregarded symptoms I told him and told me to take some ibuprofen 3 times a day....
I wanted to punch him in the face...
any advice?

Drink a carbonated drink quickly the next time you have the pains. If the pain goes away with a belch, it is probably gas pains...but go to a different doctor and get checked out anyway to give you peace of mind. Most chest pains are not heart related according to my doctors (notice it is plural)

your other symptoms could be because you are scared and freaking out...nevertheless, get another opinion. Once you are sure it isn't your heart, take a Tums and go ahve fun.
