Chest pain and sudden increase in pulse rate. Help?

Chest pain and sudden increase in pulse rate. Help?

A couple of days ago I had some pain in the left side of my chest it was gone after a minute maybe? I have had other brief chest pains since none lasted long and have been on my right side. Today I was sitting down when my heart suddenly raced it stopped when I sat up straight. I'm a 16 year old female with no bad medical history. Healthy 5'2 around 8 stone. Any ideas?

Cardiac related chest pain is usually located in the center of the chest, not left or right, this is a fairly common mistake. You are 16 years old, so you can't have angina or a heart attack.

But we are obliged to tell you that chest pain should be evaluated by a doctor, and I find your racing heart that suddenly stopped racing when you sat up, slightly concerning. Not necessarily dangerous, but you should see a doctor to evaluate if this is an arrhythmia or not.
