Combine multaq with atenolol?

by RAMHorn, Sep 29, 2009 03:21PM
My mother has just been prescribed multaq in combination with 25 mg atenolol.  Three days - no problem so far.  But we've just finished reading through the warnings and beta blockers is on the list.  Has anyone else been taking these drugs together?

sometimes beta blockers are prescribed with antiarrthymics to reduce the occurence of atrial flutter, or to keep the heart rate low.
You didnt mention, but why were these meds prescribed?

She has atrial fib episodes every week or so - over the past 6 months they are followed by several hours of arrythmia with 5-6 second pauses.  The doctors have been considering ablation (sp?) but are going this route for now.
