Does irregular HB always go with afib?

I had an afib attack recently (180 beats) but also my heartbeat was very irregular. Do these two symptoms go together?

Dear Becki:  I have had bouts of A fib for 10-12 years..  It started with about one bout a year.. but as I have gotten older I have about 2 per year.. maybe 3 ... and to answer your question.. yes... my heart rate will goes up to 180-200 and is very irregular until it is shocked back into regular rhythm.  I have recently been put on a medication called Flecainide 50mg ...2 daily that stops the A fib .. but it causes me to have a couple of side effects that I dont care for much.. My joints  (knee and hip joints) ache in the evenings and I become very tired in the evenings.. Just thought id tell you about the medication in case they want to put you on it.. Im considering an ablation at this time...but there again, it has possible side effects and Im doing resonably good now.. just not perfect... like Id like!!!! Oh well Im almost 68 ..... getting close to 70 .maybe some of the way I feel in the evenings just has to do with birthdays.. but I like to blame it on the medication!! Have a good day.. Claytex
