Double Beat, Triple Beat

by HenryA, Dec 14, 2008 04:51PM
Until 12 months ago I was in sinus at 50 bpm. Since then my heart has gradually inserted double beats and triple beats in place of a single heartbeat. Occasionally there will be four beats where there should only be one beat. I do not feel these multiple beats and they cause no discomfort. At this time they have become continuous all day, all night. I am now rarely in sinus. Is this a benign condition or is this dangerous? I get out of breath walking up small slopes. I have had 2 ablations which cured me of afib and aflutter.

Hello...

Have you mentioned this to your cardiologist or EP Dr. Without knowing where these beats are coming from (Atria or Ventricle) it really is difficult to determine how serious this is.

If you haven't already addressed this with your Dr, this should be your next step. I'm sure that he'd want to run an EKG or provide you with a holter or event monitor to see what exactly is going on. Are you currently taking any medications?
