Drug reactions for afib prevention

Drug reactions for afib prevention

I am presently taking: ASPRIN 81 mg daily 8am,DIGOXIN 125 mcg daily 8am,MULTAQ 400 mg 2xs daily 8am,8pm LISINOPRIL  20 mg daily 8am,METOPROLOL 50 mg 2xs daily 8am,8pm,PRADAXA 150 mg 2xs daily 8am,8pm. About 2 to 21/2 hours later I get this high dizzy sensation that lasts about 5 to 6 hrs.I thought it was the MULTAQ so my Dr took me off MULTAQ.7 days later I went afib.I took the MULTAQ after going afib and about 21/2 hrs later I went back in rhythm.I did read METOPROLO,LISINOPRIL and DIGOXIN cause dizziness.I don't want to take all these drugs
and bottom line I don't want to feel high and dizzy all the time.I have been reading up on ABLATION and am considering this.Thank you,Reginald

Dear Foxy: Hey you sound alot like me... I had afib for the last 12-13 years... had numerous electro cardio versions... and about 2 years ago I started having afib about every 3 months. they put me on flecainide and it worked pretty good. when I had afib I could take an extra large dose (300mg) and it would put me back into regular rhythm... But I got tired of the meds...was on Flecainide (50 mgs --2 daily) toproxl.... and the asprin.. I   am 69 now.. retired for several years.. exercise, eat healthy.. dont golf but fish most every day and also walk 6-8 miles daily...and like you maintain my yard and home...well,  I decided to check out the ablation thing.. my cardiologist advised me against having one.. said it was too dangerous...but I got to thinking.. he was getting about $5,000.00 bucks everytime I had a problem!!! but a neigbor had one (ablation) 7 years ago and it is still working.. I went to see her doctor at Austin Heart hospital in Austin Texas.. and he told me that since i was in good physical condition for my age..(was 68 then) that I had a 75-80% chance of a successful ablation the first time.. well with the new health care program..going into effect on down the road.. Im figuring I wouldnt be able to pick the hospital and doctor (EP)that I wanted..so i decided to have an ablation now instead of later.. I had the ablation this last july... and it has been great..almost a year now... no problems.. no afib ..no nuttin.. oh maybe an occasional skipped beat .. every 2-3 weeks.. but I think every one has that.. There really wasnt much to the ablation.. I think a couple of things are very important in considering an ablation.. I picked a doctor who had performed about 2000 ablations most of which had been successful... and I chose the particular hospital because ablations are one of its main services.. they have the most modern equipment available.... not all hospitals performing them have the latest  equipment..so any way bottom line... if your in good physical condition, find a successful EP who has done several ablations at a hospital that is well equiped and has a good reputation.. I figure you would have a good chance of it working.. I know people who have had ablations and who were not in good physical condition and they have had some problems.. so I think physical condition is very important... Oh also... they say it takes 3 months for the heart to heal after the ablation.. I really think its more like 3-5 months for it to feel totally normal... but right after the ablation its not bad at all.. only thing my leg was a little sore and bruised for a couple of weeks where the put the deal in... Id do it again ... with out even thinking about it... its great for me... hope this helps.. if you have any questions let me know ...Claytex
