Dumb question

Dumb question

I've had PVC's and PAC's on and off for over 30 years. I'm 52. They stink, as you all know. Is it possible that there is a connection between gas in the stomach, and the skipped beats? At times I feel gas moving around in my upper stomach, and the instant it does, the heart skips. My doc didn't seem to think much of the possibility. Has anyone else ever had this? I wish I could find out what causes these things. Thanks, Mark

NO such thing as a dumb question my friend...only the one you never ask because like Murphys Law it will happen.  And yes there is a direct corrolation between the stomach and heart..you may want to google out GERD and see if those symptoms fit so you will have a little better understanding but there is a direct connection between our stomach, bowels to the heart. When you say your doc hopefully you are talking about a heart doc and not your family doc.  If it is your family doc Mark make an appt. w. a good heart doc so that they will take the time to explain all of this to you...good luck and i think all of us on the site that have had PVC's and PAC's  could figure out the original cause because then guess what?  We could have gotten rid of them because we knew why they were happening originally...i always compare it to what came first the chicken or the egg LOL

Hi,
Yes, I meant my cardio doc. I have been doing quite well for about 8 months, and out of the blue, my symptoms have returned full force. They have always been somewhat cyclical, so I'm sure they will run there course and mellow out. Wish there was a cure for these things. Unfortunately, I feel every stinking heartbeat, so I always know when it's missing. I asked God to either kill all the nerves in my chest so I don't feel my heartbeat, or make it beat right. I'm still waiting. So I do my best to get on with life, and try not to let these get me to down. Mark

No doubt, I've noticed that myself. Especially after eating a meal. I've cleared the dishes away sat down to watch the news and have had several pac's. Alot of times after I've experienced a Pac/PVC I get extremely sick in my stomach feels like a could throw up. Sometimes I get a Hot Flash... I know all of this is crazy. I asked my Cardiologist what causes them and he shrugs his shoulder and says no one really knows for sure. Only that they are nothing to worry about! Good Luck!

you need to see a GI dr and make sure that's all it is; sometimes it can be other things causing the problem too - ask about the Vagus nerve when you do get it checked out though =)

There are a ton of reasons your vagus nerve may be stimulated and cause problems, look up vagus nerve and the autonomic nervous system (ANS).  The Vegas Nerve helps to balance the levels of stomach acid &  gastric juices in the stomach.

literally anything can cause ANS dysfunction, which regulates most of our body functions automatically - then it misfires or miscommunicates with our nerves and causes problems - heart, stomach etc

here's a great booklet on the ANS and how it works http://www.ndrf.org/NDRF%20Patient%20Handbook/SecA_pp17-58.PDF
3 or 4 pages down it tells what all it does and more info on the vagus nerve if you read the rest of the article
