If you had a episode that you thought was a heart attack and had a ekg with in minutes after words, would the ekg tell you it was a heart attack.

No not necessarily. The EKG measures electrical conduction in the heart and may not show up on the EKG until the injured area scars up. It will show how the heart is beating though and if any arrhythmias are present. Blood tests can measure products from the heart tissue that show damage.
depends really...for example quite a few years ago my father in law (in his 70's) started having chest pain at work, the guys made him go to the ER; they did tests and sent him home...as he was walking out the doors of the ER he collapsed and they picked up the MI after that and he went through a quadruple bypass.
