Ectopic heartbeat help please!

Hi
i am 28 and have an ectopic heartbeat. I started having these when i was about 16. After years of worry thinking there was something seriously wrong with me, and changing GP's because they didnt want to send me for tests! i finally had a 24 tape and it was discovered i had an ectopic heartbeat.
Now i know these are nothing serious as my GP has told me many a time in the past. But i also suffer from depression and anxiety/panic. The last time it flared u i had palpitation all the time. It took 9 months of hard work to overcome. I have been free of these feelings for well over a year and suddenly the anxiety came back and now im getting the palpitations again. I know its crazy but the feelings i get from them ust make me obsessive  about the next time i will have one. Sometimes they are very weak and not very often, then othertimes they are really strong and i have lots in a short space of time. I really hate them! Can anyone help with ways to overcome the palpitations? I dont drink or smoke. I dont have any caffine. I am over weight but recently lost 2 1/2 stone and im still going!
I know i have gone on but anyone who has them knows how awful they can be. Id love to be palpitation free"
Any help at all would be greatly apreciated
Thanks
Sherrie

My missed beats have caused me a loit of anxiety. I have not had cognitive therapy, but the following books are based on cognitive therapy and I found them useful:

Feeling Good: the New Mood Therapy - Dr David Burns
Stop Worrying, Start Living - Dr Richard Leahy
Self-Help for Your Nerves - Dr Claire Weekes. This is a fantastic book, very reassuring, I kept it at my side for months.

Doing the exercises in these books helped me to be more rational about my health fears. Best wishes.

Hi.
I know how you feel and rest assure you are not alone. I used to get palpatations and get very anxious to the point where i really thought i was gonna die and after the attack i was so terrified of when it was gonna happen again that i wouldnt leave the house! I was started on Zoloft 100mg and xanax 0.25mg and it seems to help alot. When i feel the anxiety coming i tell myself, "Noone has died from a panic attack" it usually passes after 15-25 mins. I know, BELIEVE ME I KNOW, these things are horrible and scary, just try to relax, take deep breaths and know that it will pass.

hi
i think there are a lot of people in here who love to be palpatition free inc me ...apart from staying away from the triggers like u mentioned above it  is difficult to control the etopics cause simply everybody get them...some like me are more prone to them or just simply feel them more...they are not dangerous..
are u tried relaxing techs
like yoga
painting  {art} watercolours might be better
reading etc
anxiety will cause more of them as well  trust me ...when i get anxious my heart goes on it's own train tracks
if u are very smptomatic with these  sometimes docs use a low dose beta blockers which may control the palps for u

try drinking more water 3 litres a day   it should help a small bit
