Exercise Heart Rate

I’m a 36 year old male. In have a history of SVT and PAC. I have been to a cardiologist twice and had two echoes and two EKGs. The doctor said everything looked fine. I was training on the bike at the gym finishing up my last 5 minutes of cardio and decided to push my heart rate from my normal training range of 145bpm-155bpm to 165bpm. Once I reached 165bpm, I started to back off and my heart rate didn’t seem to be coming down. I stopped peddling for 20 seconds and no change, still 165bpm.   I started to panic and my wife told me to take deep breaths and after a couple of minutes it dropped to normal range. Is this possibly sustained SVT ? Can it take awhile for your heart rate to start back down? It usually drops quickly. This time it seemed like it was stuck, it took it forever to start slowing down. I’m not sure if it was adrenaline related or not.

Oh, also, one of the characteristics of SVT is that it starts and stops suddenly, within one heart beat.  If your heart slowed down gradually, it wasn't SVT.

I don't think it's SVT.  It's normal for your heart to behave that way during hard exercise.

SVT won't kill you anyway, even if that's what it was.

Wow! I would never push my heart. Always freaked me out to feel it pound! Um, to answer your question, I would have a stress test, because from what I have read, it should return fairly quickly. BUT, I am NOT a doctor, however, I would still opt for the stress test. I have had them done and that is one thing they check for.
