Fast Heart Rate Upon Standing

Fast Heart Rate Upon Standing

Hello, I am a 25 year old semi-healthy male. I have noticed that when waking my heat rate is around 60 - 70 beats per minute, but as soon as I stand it jumps up 25-30 beats per minute. I was wondering if this was normal. I have passed before, but they said it was an isolated incident of syncope. I have seen a cardiologist and have had an echo, several ekgs, and a stress test; all tests were normal. I am just wondering if this is normal because I have read online that it should only increase 5-10 beats per minute when just standing.

I don't fully follow your data.  If you have a HR of 60-70 when walking, I'd say that is very good, healthy.  Are you saying if you are resting your HR is lower than 60, but when you get up it goes up to 80+?  Seems strange if you can walk around at 70-.  Still it is quite common in my experience for a person to have a reaction to a sudden change in activity level, such as "jumping  up" form a seated/resting position.  It is possible to get dizzy and yest faint, but that should not be the case from just rising, I believe.

Sounds like you have had a complete medical check-up, that should put your mind at ease

Do you mean your heartbeat is 60 to 70 when you wake up? That is normal if that is the case. Some folks do go up higher if they jump up real fast. In fact, some docs check the patients adrenal glands that way, it shows if they are working or not. I would say your beats are the high side of normal. If they were not working, when you stood up real fast, you would probably pass out, at least some due with weak adrenal glands.

If you are worried, I would ask your doctor why this is, but, I am sure it is just normal for you since your tests were all so good.
