Feeling a lot of fatigue lately...

Ever since my EP study/ablation I've been feeling really fatigued. I get out of breath when exerting the least bit of energy (going up stairs, walking a little more than usual). My ablation was on August 24th (this year) and I see my cardio (he's my EP who did the ablation as well) next Wednesday, but I wondered if this was typical. I haven't had any runs of SVT since the ablation, though I have had some tachycardia that has been a little uncomfortable. It was worth it not to be passing out anymore or having unpredictable SVT, I was just wondering how long it would take for me to be back to normal. I'm overweight, so it's not like I was in the best of shape before the ablation, but this is a really noticeable difference. I'm not sure if I should be worrying about it or not, so I just wanted to get some people's experiences.

Great to hear that you are no longer having SVT, and that your passing out has ceased!! You no doubt need to discuss your symptoms with your doctor. He or she will probably explore all potential causes. However, I do not think it is uncommon to feel weak for a while after an ablation. I was in great shape before my ablation, but after my ablation for SVT I was very weak, lightheaded, fatigued, etc.  I also dont think I have ever noticed so many odd sensations and symptoms since I had that done. Everything from sleeplessness, depression, strange sensations in my chest, pain in a few places, etc.  Most went away after several months.  I found biggest helps for beating fatigue and depression were resuming exercise and resuming my normal routine. I also found black tea helpful. It took several months before I felt half way normal again. Hang in there. Most likely, your sluggishness will snap here in a few weeks. Do talk to your doc though.

Bromley hit it on the head Mollie Rose.....i went thru the same thing as you both after my ablation and one of the things i had it for was SVT...it takes up to 6 months before you feel completely back to normal.  For me it was 4 months and i had a couple of runs of random atrial fib during that time.  We have to bear in mind that you only had the procedure done a couple of weeks ago....your heart was poked, prodded, penetrated and zapped and you can bet its still mad at you. Your heart is not doubt still a little swollen and that would acct. for the tiredness that you are feeling...i had the shortness of breath, being tired and some pretty weird random pains after my procedure.  On Oct. 5th it will be 4 years since the ablation was done and the SVT was 100% successful.  I seriously wouldn't worry about anything yet...if you start getting any symtoms (symptoms) at all that seem to be progressive to you then i would call the doc just to be sure that everything is okay....I think in total i had tach'd out 4 times after the ablation within the first 6 month....our hearts are getting used to the electrical pathways firing correctly now after misfiring for a length of tiem and repetition is what retrains our hearts to know the correct way to fire now....patience would be the word of the day here i think....my doc gave me a low dose of beta blocker to help me thru the tough spots after the procedure....i still have never figured out why i kept feeling like an ice cold ice pick was periodically stabbing me in the heart area after the procedure.....as time goes on Mollie the episodes for most of us become less and less...congrats on improving your life with the ablation....i wouldn't change a thing.....

yes it's normal I think for an ablation for any type of arrythmia; your hearts just been put through the ringer so to speak and trying to recover, give yourself time & rest, relax and enjoy not having the problems you had before
