Fluttering through my head and chest

Hello, my name is Tony.I am 24 years old, smoker, a few drinks on the weekend, but other than that I am built like an ox. For about a year or two, right before I fall asleep, I have had this fluttering feeling in my head and chest right before I fall asleep. It is really hard to describe. I will be laying down fine, and then out of nowhere I feel almost like a rush come through my chest and move up to my head and then it "sounds" like a fluttering noise in my brain and then its gone. I say "sounds" because my wife cant hear it when it happens but I can. It is almost like the noise you hear when you yawn. Hopefully that makes some sort of sense to someone because it is really bothering me, almost to the point where I become afraid to try to fall back asleep. If anyone can help me at all I would really appreciate it.

Heya sounds a lot like this sleep paralysis thing I'm looking into, I've been having those fun experiences and what you describe right there is what I'm dealing with recently. Apparently it's due to stress, a bit of fear and a touch of narcolepsy which is everything from the devil and then some, so I'm going in to get a complete blood panel done asap, and then probably a sleep study.... Which only seems to add to my stress hahaha. It's a little late getting back to you, but brother, your not alone. Just be glad it's not happening to you with your eyes open! Now THATS some fun stuff.

Sorry I can't be of any direct help, but I will suggest if you don't have any noticeable heart rhythm problems (high, low or irregular heart rate) you may be posting on the wrong forum.  You may want to try putting your post (just do a cut-and-past) on the:

or just do a search on some key words and see if any leads come up.
