I know exactlly how you feel!I talked to my doctor when I had to fly (a few years back) and he gave me a low dose of xanex.Im not saying drugs are the answer for everything but honestly I wouldnt of been able to do it without it.Sometimes we cant control what are bodys do..like when I get in a plane or even an elevator, all of a sudden the pvcs come on and the fast heart rate, sweat ect..So if I were you I would go see your doctor..Many people have this problem..(some people take sleeping medicine)..I just stick with what I told you:)

Marie,

When we feel scared and anxious, it's not unusual  to feel more skips and flips and thumps as a result of the adrenaline being pumped through our body. These pac's pvcs are not going to hurt you. They are extremely annoying that's for sure but rest assured, nothing is going to happen to you if you feel a lot more of them.

I had SVT where my heart would all of a sudden beat very rapidly (180 beats-190 beats per min).  These episodes could last up to an hour and a half.  I was a wreck getting on a plane because I had to hold my breath and squat down to get it to stop.  How can you easily do that on a plane!!

I know it's frightening when you feel the Pacs and Pvcs  but they haven't hurt you so far , right?  Feeling more of them because you're scared happens because your adrenaline is pumping. The more you worry, the more you'll feel them. If you feel them, try not to feel scared-it's just your heart  temporarily being a pain in the neck! Just say , there it goes again -no big deal and I'm not going to let myself get freaked out.. I know it's easier said than done but I'm sure you'll be just fine.

Hi Marie,

I've traveled with thousands of PVCs and while the PVCs can cause anxiety, in a structurally normal heart, they will not hurt you.  I've also taken a very low dose of Xanax prior to some flights.  Have you had an echo?  What does your doctor say about the PVCs?  Try not to let your anxiety get the best of you.  Remind yourself how exciting it will be to go on vacation!!  You'll have to tell us all about it when you get back.

You cant let these things paralyze you or let them stop you from enjoying your life. Just about everything comes with some risk. You just have to decide whether what you are doing is a smart risk.

PVC's are usually no risk at all and flying is safe too.  OK OK there are always lots of things to worry about. You might not have a "A STRUCTURALLY NORMAL HEART".  BUT hey we also are assuming you are flying on a commercial airline, not going on a bombing mission, or gonna be strapped to the right wing while the pilot flys upside down.  Dont worry about this stuff its not worth it. The plane is gonna fly right side up, man.  The PVC's will strike and then they will go away just like they always do.

Have fun on your vacation and dont forget about your friends in the heart community.

regards, Bromley

I understand completely!  My problem on a plane is if it takes off at a steep incline the G-force makes my heart go crazy!!!  I only ever had that happen on an upside down ride once.  My last flight went straight up and my heart went nuts.  I thought, "Holy XXX, I am having a panic attack and can't get out of this seatbelt!"  Once we leveled off, it went back to normal.  I have been afraid to fly since then.  I do take extra Xanax before a flight.  Also, it doesn't have to happen every time.  Once you fly and nothing happens you will gain confidence again!

Hi everyone, thankyou so much for all the reasurance, my husband and I are flying out Monday morning, and going to  sunny 'Surfers Paradise' in Queensland  from Adelaide South Australia, it`s a commercial airline
I have seen a Cardiologist on many occasions especially when I get totally stressed, and he has told me that my heart is totally fine, and tells me not to worry about my heart, he did prescribe Ternormin and I take 15 ml daily, and can take 30 ml if needed.
My Cardiologist said the condition is benign, and that many people have this condition, he keeps reasurring and I keep going back fo reasurrance when the  beats get worse.
I am trying to accept the condition, but when the beats happen I still feel as though it will be the last time my heart beats, and that is what frightens be the most, and so the vicious circle continues, but haveing read all the posts from all you gorgeous people I am finding I can now feel the beats and tend to think 'or well it will be ok' soooo thankyou thankyou thankyou all who took the time to respond to my post, it was so important to me to read all your encouragement.
lots of love from me to all of you
Ps I will let you all know how about my holiday we are away for 11 days
