Frequent PVC's over 2 hours

Hi,

I've been getting minor irregular PVCs for about 4 years now, but over the last 2 months I've had 2 episodes where I've had around 1 PVC every 5 seconds lasting for a period of 20 minutes, and the second one lasted for 2 hours. Went to A&E and obviously as soon as I sat down for the ECG they stopped. Just wondering can this still be a benign finding, or does it signify something worse? As long as I know its nothing to worry about I can deal with these episodes

1 pvc every 5 seconds is still considered isolated and not a healthy threat in an otherwise healthy heart.  Has your heart been evaluated to deemed healthy?  Have you had any tests done like an ekg or echo?  Try to cough when you notice them as much and see if that helps.  Also avoid heavy meals, caffeine,  sugar and carbohydrates, spicy foods.  Try to stay well hydrated as dehydration can cause more premature beats as well keep sodium to a minimum.   Manage any stomach issues like acid reflux and if you have anxiety or stress work on those as well.  These are the biggest triggers and if you can minimize them you may be able to help alleviate the  extra beats.  If you haven't been to a doctor to get checked out beyond going to the ER then just see a doctor to get a full check up and let them know what you are feeling.  More than likely you don't have anything to worry about but good to get checked out to know for sure.  If your electrolytes are imbalance that could be part of the problem as well so just go for check up and take it from there.   Take care.  Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thank you for the response, very reassuring! I have had numerous EKG's, a 24hour EKG but no echo yet. I dont think there is anything wrong but it was just strange to have so many, over such a long period of time! Still confuses me that it can be nothing, but i guess it is! Thanks for the advice I'll try to ease off on certain things (alcohol being the main thing!)
