Galvanic Spa use if you have a pacemaker

Galvanic Spa use if you have a pacemaker

I have used the Nuskin Galvanic Spa facial, and I'm concerned about the warnings in the instruction booklet.  It lists "having a pacemaker" as one of the contraindications, but nobody can give an answer as to WHY.  So, can anyone tell me exactly what could happen if someone with a pacemaker used the Galvanic Spa Facial?  I'm guessing it could interfere with the electrical setting of the pacemaker, or possible cause an electric shock.  Thanks for your help!

I did a google search on this, and this is what the company says:

► Why is there a warning saying, “Check with your physician before using the Galvanic Spa™
System II if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, are epileptic, wear metal braces on your
teeth, or have a metal implant”?

While the Galvanic Spa™ System II is very safe and gentle, clinical studies have not been performed to prove safety of use for
the individuals mentioned. Nu Skin® also provides this warning to be in compliance with regulations for electronic devices.
The effect on individuals with pacemakers, metal braces, or metal implants will vary based on the condition that the
individual has. The warning that accompanies the Galvanic Spa™ System II is similar to other electrical devices like an
electric toothbrush or walkman. For most people, it will not pose any risk, but there is the potential for some individuals.
The currents could interfere with the functioning of devices such as pacemakers or cause irritation to those wearing metal
braces on their teeth or have implants in their mouths.
If an individual has concerns, we would recommend that they speak with his/her health care provider. The levels of the
currents are 0.125 mA, 0.250 mA, and 0.350 mA (milliamperes). These are considered very small currents.

Thank you for your input on the Nuskin Galvanic Spa.  I have done extensive research on the device, and the only information I can find is from the company itself.  To say that the warnings for the Galvanic Spa are "similar to other electrical devices like an electric toothbrush or walkman" is very deceiving.  An electric tooth brush uses batteries or electricity to "vibrate" the head of the brush.  The electrical current from the Galvanic Spa actually goes through the layers of the skin, possibly causing nerve damage or reacting with metal fillings in the mouth.

I would like to hear from professionals in the medical field about this.  There are reports coming in from women who have had adverse reactions while using the Nuskin Galvanic Spa, even though they have none of the contraindications listed in the manual.  Health care providers whom I've spoken with are clueless about the device, and most likely don't have the time to research it.

Thank you again for your research!

After using my galvanic spa, I've had some weird side effects, although I can't say that what I experienced was directly related.  Only time will tell.
I use it on my neck (and face).  Afterwards I've been experiencing heart palpitations.  I wonder if the galvanic spa is affecting my thyroid? (an out of whack thyroid can cause heart palpitations.)
I didn't put the two together until after using the spa six times - every two to three days.  I am not going to use it again and see what happens.  I last used it two days ago, and the palpitations are becoming less frequent.
Does any one know if there have been other complaints regarding the spa affecting the thyroid?
