I went through months and months of an irregular(skipped)heartbeat with no answers from heart doctors only for it to go away and never return after taking prednisone for bronchitis.  It turns out my irregular heartbeat was due to an autoimmune thyroid disease I've got which went undiagnosed for the better part of a year until I insisted upon antibodies testing for it(they don't do this in the typical run of tests).  Hope this helps anyone.

Hyperthyroidism is a common cause of extra beats.  I hope it has calmed down now that you are treated.
