I was diagnosed with LongQT five years ago. I have been on 180mg of InderalInderal Inderal la LA. I am now 39 years old and ready to go off the inderalInderal Inderal la. Do I need to ween myself off, or can I just stop taking it all together.
Thanks
Was this an aquired form of LQTS or is a genetic result? I'm just trying to understand why you are going off this medication...Is this being DC'd as per Dr's orders?
Abruptly discontinuing any Betablocker medication is not recommended. Stopping safely requires tapering the dosage -- lowering the intake slowly and progressively over a period of one to two weeks. Do so only under the supervision of a physician.
Quickly stopping a beta-blocker can cause arrhythmiasArrhythmias (heart rhythm disturbances), even in people without heart disease, and/or worsen angina, possibly even triggering a heart attack.
