Hard heart beat when i stand up.

I am 28 year old male over the past few months i have noticed that when i stand up from laying down or sitting my heart is beating extremly hard not too fast but really hard and i get a little light headed but once I am up and moving i am ok.. Over the past few nights when i just roll over in bed it is starting to do the same thing..I also started to get a sore left arm,I cant tell if its just my muscles in my arm or what...I dont have any chest pain at all or anxiety...I had an ECG done and they said i was fine but i dont understand why my heart would just start doin this and what would cause this..
I was wondering if anyone had a good idea of what this is or what causes this so i know what acctions to take??? thank you..CAM

Hey Cam28.  I am also a 28yo male.  I have had SVT for about 18 months and deal with similar issues.  I sometimes get a bit of a jolt when I stand up too fast.  This can sometimes be a symptom of POTS, but check with your doc.  In regards to lying down, is it only when you lie down on your left side?  I have this as well.  Not sure why.  i have been meaning to bring it up with my doctor.  My biggest problems by far comes when drinking alcohol.  I have suddenly developed an intolerance to drinking as it gives me palps (never used to).

I would suggest asking your cardiologist for a holter monitor to check whats going on.  Your dr can get a glimse of 24 hrs of what your heart is doing and how fast your heart is beating during these periods.        Good Luck!
