Has anyone had AV node ablation and still experience short runs of svt?

Had 2 AV node ablations in 06. lately have been having a lot of skipped beats and what feels like short runs of svt.  It happens almost every time I go out in the cold.  Does anyone else experience this?

Hi, I am afraid you will have to wait a little longer to hear about my AV node ablation. I went to the hospital yesterday for a PM check that I have had a lot of problems with, such as, sensitivity, swollen area at the PM site. So Monday 13th Feb instead of the AV node ablation, I will be having the PM repositioned. I will now have to wait for another 4-6 weeks before the AV ablation will be done. The more I read about the AV node ablation and other comments, the more I worry about this now being the only choice left for me and lots of other people.

Thanks for getting back to me. I go for my procedure for the A.V Node ablation the 13TH February. I have heard so many stories were one, does not feel any better after this procedure. I would just love a little of my life back were I don't feel exhausted all the time. I use to be so active. I will let you know how things go for me. Thanks again for your reply.

Yes, the AVJ is the same as an AV Node ablation.  The procedure took about 45 min.  After laying for 5 hrs on my back, I was ready to get up and walk around.  About an hour later, I was released.  As far as recovery, I had to watch the incision site in my groin for a couple of days and then I was off and running.  I did not feel bad at all.  Since I already had a pacer, I did not have to go through that.  I felt SO MUCH BETTER after the procedure.  Good luck to you.

Yes, I have this experience several times a month. You did not say that you had a pacemaker or not...  I had an AVJ ablation in March 2009 and had my second pacer implanted in May 2010.  The new pacer has taken care of most of my difficulty yet I still have AFib runs as well as SVT and PAC runs.  I must admit that I NOT a fan of these arrhythmias.  One has to remember that any cell in the heart can conduct.  I am currently on diltiazem (cardizem) and atenolol.  I do have to find a positive in all of this as I know that my AFib, SVTs are greatly diminished when I had the AVJ after having 3 previous ablations.  So, I guess I can say I still have "it" but not at the breakneck speed in years past.  Hang in there.

Sorry you haven't gotten any shared experience... I don't have any but decided to throw in one thing I remember reading about ablations (nor specifically AV node).  What I remember is the ablation procedure may take several attempts to get all the trouble areas.  Not sure this applies to AV node, but maybe my post will attract others, even corrections if needed.

Best,
