Has anyone taken Bystolic for Heart Palpitations?

My doctor gave me 5mg samples of Bystolic for Heart Palpitations.  He wants me to take 1 a day before bedtime. He told me that it will slow my heart rate down. Normally I get 1-2 palps daily. Slightly concerned because it can lower your blood pressure to.  My blood pressure is normally around 125/80. Doc says my heart is generally in good shape but I do have some "leakage".  Mild case of mitral valve prolapse and slightly large aortic valve.  Have had palps since 2005 but never have been put on medicine for them.  Is this drug generally safe to use?

That's one of the reasons I take it.   I have thousands of PVCs a day and occasional Afib.  It is the only beta blocker I have taken that actually helps a little with the PVCs.  Not sure what it's talking about referring to skipped beats but I have thousands a day and take bystolic religously.

I have been taking bystolic for several years and for me it seems to work much better than atenolol or lopressor, without all the side effects.  I have had to up my dosage a couple of times and right at first my stomach will feel a little off and I may get a very slight headache but it goes away quickly.

Thanks for letting me know. Hope this will work for my palpitations. I did read this on the bystolic website that you should not take if your heart skips beats - which sounds to like heart palpitations. Going to check again with my doctor.

I read this on the Bystolic website:
Who should NOT take BYSTOLIC?

Do not take BYSTOLIC if you:
•Have a slow heartbeat or your heart skips beats (irregular heartbeat)

I'm guessing that my doctor thinks my heart palpitations are not considered an irregular heartbeat?  I'll ask him but I found this a little scary.

I am taking it for slightly high blood pressure.  As it happens, I also have frequent palpitations (for decades now).  I find that Bystolic actually *does* decrease my palps, even though I did not expect that!

BTW, this is the only blood pressure medication I've ever taken that seems to be without nasty side effects.  The first week, I felt as though I might have had a bit too much to drink, but since then, I can't even tell that I'm taking anything.
