Heart/Chest weird feeling

The past couple of months Ive been having weird chest sensations. I wouldnt say painful..just uncomfortable. Today ive been getting this feeling. Bear with me here...its kind of like having a bruise that hurts and someone swipes their finger hard across it or as if someone is grabbing a vein somewhere near my heart squeezing it and dragging along it real fast. Earlier it was happening every so often, now that im rested and ready to sleep its almost a constant feeling. It wasnt painful earlier but now its starting to get there. Im also getting a feeling of having that ball on your throat feeling when you feel like you want to cry. But I dont. o.O
Sorry if this doesnt make sense.  Anyways...what should I do? Wait to go to the doctor or go to the ER. I really dont feel like having someone take me there at 3 am and being at the ER all night if its nothing. But I also dont want to wait and something horrible happens.

Since you've been encountering this for the past couple of months have you mentioned it at any time to your family doctor? You certainly should. He can't answer unasked questions and he can't help you find answers if he doesn't know about them.

I would think the most simple tests such as an echocardiogram and 24 hour Holter monitor might be in order to start with. Assuming they are not occurring every day it might even be prudent to do a 21-30 event monitor (glorified Holter monitor).

Whilst I totally understand an aversion to ER trips, especially at 3 AM, it is easier for "them" to Dx a problem if they see you DURING one of these events so you might want to give serious consideration to a trip to ER the next time these symptoms occur.

Ditto the above. You don't want to mess around with the heart. I'd make an appointment tomorrow with your regular doctor is you haven't seen one yet and at least get an ekg to  rule out anything that could be immediately wrong.
