Heart Monitor

My cardio decided to hook me up to a 21 day monitor. I had it put on yesterday, (by his nurse, I did not see him) and I have felt a few things since that time. The last time I hit it, the monitor company called wanting to know my symptom and where I was...that was it!  Now I'm really feeling palps as I am trying to figure out who's going to call next and with what instructions...The nurse told me they may call, they would then notify her, then she would page the doctor...they have just called again asking for my new symptom and what I was doing!! Anyone else ever wear one and have them call when you hit the button?

Sounds normal to me.  When wearing one of the devices if I was out walking up a hill the high HR would signal an event, to which I'd indicate I was exercising, the it was a none issue.  I believe the calls are more to calibrate cause and effect, not an indication there is a concern that your are in danger.

I agree with Jerry, this sounds normal to me. I have been on 21,30 and 60 day monitors many times. From my personal experience, if there was a concern, your doctor would call you soon after the monitoring company forward the incident to him or her.

That's a bit different than the monitors I've worn. The last time I wore an event monitor (2 years ago) I would choose which events to record (I always tried to choose the worst ones) and then would call them in to download the data over the phone after 3 events.  They never called me. Good thing since they'd be bugging me every day. Perhaps my monitors were old fashioned.  :-)

I'm just off of a 30 day, 2 lead monitor.  I could press the event button, but it was also set to auto trigger which it did twice.  Both methods would store the previous 2 minutes, and the following 1 minute.  After 3 events, it would lock down and force you to phone them in by holding it up to a phone like an old fashioned acoustic modem.  I thought the device was rather archaic although it was apparently current technology.

Thanks for the responses...I finally got a technician to answer my questions when they called and they said they would call everytime I pushed the button unless I called them first. My drs. nurse returned my call yesterday afternoon to let me know they were catching PVC's and PAC's, and to keep on wearing it. She said there was nothing alarming. I'm a little more settled with the monitor and I'm going to try and ignore it until I need it.LOL. 18 more days and counting...
